EC Tremolux output question
« on: July 06, 2020, 11:06:20 am »
I have a questions about EC Tremolux...I understand there is a resistor something that is cutting gain I dont understand why they would do that as there is a low power switch. my question is can I just remove this resistor/component?

Show us the resistor on a schematic.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

The original 5E9A had two channels with two 1M volume pots. The EC only has one channel and one 1M volume pot. The resistor in question simulates the missing volume pot. Look at a 5E9A schematic to see this.

Do you actually have this amp? Can you post some pics of the innards?

That class of volume control does not even work "right" without a load like that resistor.

But it "works" either way. Suit yourself.

define "right" to my ears amp sounds thin and then just flubby at higher volumes with that resistor
Without it amp sings and at higher volumes breaks up nicely
