Hi from Montreal
« on: November 03, 2020, 12:17:23 pm »
hey everyone, my name is Alex.
Living in montreal, guitarist and composer of minimalist-leaning things.
Love all music though. Arvo, Messiaen, Radiohead, Bill Frisell, Boartds of Canada, Nick Cave, those are some of my jams.
Used to build pedals about 9 years ago, now starting up my interest again so that I can try to tackle amps.
Saw this forum, watched and read it for a few weeks, and decided to register, seems like a great community with some impressive minds on the subject.

I’m just hobbyist, using electronics to give myself a break from music theory and guitar practice. But I still want to take the learning seriously. In fact, I’m finding it hard to find a good resource to teach the theory of electronics. Some of the guitar building amp books are just a sliver over my head, or a sliver under.
For instance, I recently built a mojotone 5e3, did it over the course of 4 days. It sounds amazing. Except, there is 60 cycle hum, and most frustratingly, the speaker jack seems to have a wiring issue but I cant figure it out.
This is just to say, I am very open to suggestions on how to learn more, so that I don’t have to ask newbie questions like the one above.
Will be building a Princeton when I fix the 5e3.

Ok, hope to chat and participate in the forums.
A
