Reverb pedal jack

A lot of Fender BF amps, use an RCA jack for the reverb pedal so the pedal has to be plugged in the jack to get reverb, (then either on or off), without the pedal or a dummy jack, reverb can't be turned on. I don't see why a Switchcraft shorting jack can't be used in place of the RCA jack. With 1/4" jack unplugged, continuity is made, reverb plays without pedal and works as it's suppose too when plugged in. Any issues going this?

No vibrato in this amp, an Allen Old Flame, topology is a single channel Super Reverb. Amp has no jack for a pedal, want to use a Switchcraft shorting jack to ground out the reverb with a pedal.  There is no way to turn off reverb except turn the reverb down, it's alway on.
The schematic shows standard Fender BF "in and out" for reverb tank, want to short the "reverb out" to ground with a 1/4" shorting jack. Seems like an easy change. Just wanted to know if this could cause an issue, doesn't seem like it.

I agree BF Fender amp need RCA plug and + and - shorted for vibrato effect . Reverb is always ON.

Dude, you can use any kind of jack you want. RCA are just cheaper.

Yeah but my pedal only has 1/4” phono Jack and no RCA Jack on hand, also with RCA jack l have to have pedal plugged in to turn off reverb, with shorting Jack l don’t, always off, unless l use a pedal thanks.

But then the default state if the reverb would be off, unless the footswitch or something was plugged into the jack. Are you sure that’s what you want? As I suspect most BF/SF Fender users find that arrangement with the trem, which is wired that way as stock, is rather inconvenient.

You have that backwards. The reverb circuit works without a footswitch. Without a FS the reverb is always ON. You only need a FS if you want to turn the reverb OFF.
