output transformer inpedance
« on: January 09, 2022, 02:46:37 pm »
I built a single channel 5e3ish amp that uses a 5k output transformer,
I'm running 2 6v6s with about 320 volts on the plates. The output trans has 4 and 8 ohm taps, would I use them as 8 and 16 ohm taps with the 6v6s.
Thanks in advance, James

the 5K is based on the output load, so a 4 ohm speaker on the 4 ohm tap will reflect 5K to the tubes
and 8 ohm speaker on the 4 ohm tap will reflect 10k on the tubes
Went Class C for efficiency
