Tube load impedances
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How do I determine the proper load impedance of any given tube. Can this be determined by the plate resistance or is there a formula or rule of thumb that can be used from info on data sheets.

There is a minimum load impedance which, if exceeded will cause reduced tube life. There is no "proper load impedance". If you need a "rule of thumb" then look at various existing amp designs and output transformer manufacturer's data for some good ideas.
The term Plate Resistance is kind of misleading and has little or nothing to do with the designer's choice of load.

All those load impedances are in any tube manual.
What kind of tubes are you talking about? PP? SE?
I have a load of manuals, I'd be glad to help you.

At the top of this forum is a thread "Please read this to learn about tube amps". There is a list of links for tube data in there. (It may be called Load Resistance in the data sheets.)
