Its released, the first new book I've bought in years! Feels good, waiting for it to be printed 



A few weeks back I bought Merlin's High Fidelity Preamps book, but when it turned up in the post from the seller I thought

"Merlin was in vietnam? There seems to be an awful lot of memorials and dedications to veterans in the back.......wait a second"

The book inside the cover was a Vietnam Veteran book, incidentally a good book by Jenny La Sala, some great veteran stories in there, but not enough RIAA preamp information for me so I had to send it back!

It fitted the cover sleeve perfectly too, think someone was cheeky and sold it to an online bookshop!

Will teach me not to send my money directly to the wizard himself...

I doubt Merlin makes books himself. I think he uses Lulu print-on-demand. The covers are a separate process. Doing one at a time, things can go wrong.

If the book insides are not what you ordered, tell the seller. It can't be a deliberate screw-up. You are right to complain/return.

Oh yeah, the book mistake was from an amazon seller, that book went straight back [after I quickly read through it!], it was very cheap second hand compared to the others so I went for it, I just wish sellers would check, but they are a huge book warehouse kind of place so probably incredibly busy

I ordered the new Power Supplies one on lulu, I might as well order the High Fidelity one on there too now, just waiting for my refund back from amazon first, I'd much rather help Merlin out with that money, maybe the PCB kits might come back one day

Thanks for that. I knew he pulled the first edition because of the "typos and mistakes" off to Lulu now

I now have the whole book, in hardcover. Nearly 300 pages of Merlin's meticulous yet clear writing and drawings.

I'm sure it will be very useful. Merlin does explain things well and as most of his readers are male (we do like pictures to see what's happening) the books are good. Mine turned up today. It took the same amount of time to get from New York to Sydney Australia as it did to go the last 100kms north of the airport to my place
