My pal Tom Bukovac "Uncle Larry" in the shop
« on: May 24, 2023, 04:41:21 am »
My pal Tom Bukovac "Uncle Larry" in the shop playing through his new Super Deluxe I built him.  Old and dear friend and amazing player.  Yes that is a real 58 Les Paul in case you wondered.

Cheers!

His playing and that amp sound beautiful!  What an incredible clean tone it has.  Amazing!  The tone seemed to kind of engulf the listener almost like a 3D effect in some ways. Hard to describe but truly beautiful tone.

Thanks for sharing the video. I enjoyed it alot.

with respect,  Jeff

Thats a great "transparent" sound you have there, very sensitive and detailed. You can hear the fingers...

You seem to use all 3 types of resistors, comp, C film and metal film.
Any particular reason?

Tom is one of the best in the business.  One of Nashville's top session guys for at least 20 years now and has an incredible ear for tone.  He is very critical when it's not right (for him at least).  We have been pals for 30 years now and I have certainly picked up some great guitar from him.  One of the few people that when he recommends a piece of gear to me I just buy it as he is ALWAYS right about it (so far :icon_biggrin: )

It's kinda crazy how well my dang iPhone recorded that so well standing in my shop then transferring to Youtube.  You would think the quality would be awful but it is ok.  Of course nothing like being there in person.

Cheers,
Mike

I saw this episode on YouTube.  Didn't know you were the builder.   Great sound!

I too am happily surprised at the recording quality of smartphone audio/video.
