Greetings, everyone. I figured I should introduce myself before jumping into the other forums to ask questions (which will indeed be forthcoming).
I'm primarily a classical musician, focusing on classical piano, which I have played since age three and still teach. I also play and teach two styles of five-string banjo.
I first got into electric guitar through the blues. I don't particularly care for rock music, to be honest (sacrilege, I know). I love playing around with different tones. I mostly play fiddle tunes and traditional songs on the guitar (Appalachian and Texas old time, Irish, Scottish, and English). I built pedals off an on for several years, and always wanted to try my hand at amplifiers. I finally took the plunge last year and I'm afraid I'm hooked.
I have built the following amps so far:
- Princeton 5F2-A
- RobRob Deluxe 5E3
- 18W SuperLite
- RobRob JCM800 Micro
- RobRob JTM45 Micro
I'm currently working on a Trainwreck Express and planning on rebuilidng the 18W SuperLite and maybe Deluxe. I have an Overdrive Special chassis and set of ODS boards sitting around - one day I may work up the courage to build those.
I have a strong background in engineering (a PhD for what it's worth), but my shaky, arthritic hands aren't so good at soldering. But I intend to soldier on...
Regards,
Austin Rogers, PhD
