Insurance tip
« on: August 05, 2024, 09:45:16 pm »
Guys I just wanted to pass this on. I just saved a ton of money on my car insurance by leaving Geico!
18 years with them, no accidents & no tickets and they seem to not want my business?????
Went on line and got higher coverage at a lower price from the good hands people! Saving $240 a year!
That's a whole lot of resistors and caps! I'm not endorsing any company but, guys, shop around from time to time!
Insurance companies, like cops, are not your friend! Buy online, local agents charge way too much! :BangHead:

It's crazy how much my car insurance went up last yearLike $150 higher

I called my agent to complain
Come to find out it's industry wide as I saw on the web
Cost of parts and higher cost in general was the answer I got

No accidents, I drive less than 1000 miles a year since I work at home.

You would think I would be in a low risk category

my insurance lady is a no-filter kinda woman, when I asked about the bump;

"there's 12 million new folks in America, someone's gotta pay for the "un-insured""

at the beerbaitn gas the "Blame" is put on the State;

"They aren't pulling us over for all the non-moving violations they used to, the state just baked in the price into the cost of plates"
our plate cost went from about $75 for a old car to $150 a few years back.
we are also a "no-fault state" so Insurance medical care is "paid up front" into a slush-fund that got so large the state was forced to "cut us some slack"  our premiums dropped about 10%

The young woman at Geico told me over the phone, "since you've not had an accident or a ticket in years, you are considered a risk because, you are due to have one"!

Makes you feel like you are nothing more than dog poo on their shoe! What ever happened to taking care of a loyal customer!   :BangHead: :cussing: :BangHead:

Don't ever go online and request a quote
I did that once and got bombarded by spam
They want you life history in order to supply you with a simple quote

There are still some retailers that treat you like a human being. Unfortunately, the insurance industry is not one of them!

I've got three local hardware stores near me. I drive to the farthest one because they are just nicer people. It just ain't
worth saving a few pennies to get treated like crap.

I guess I'm just old and grumpy. (retired in 2022) Treat me wrong and your store is dead to me!  :cussing:

Same, I use very few "box stores" anymore, near ZERO online stores unless it's a must have.
my insurance has always been through the local agent, they live here, they understand how it's all a money grab and they are not afraid to speak their mind.

I got thrown into retirement by guvmint policy in 2014, took a year for the learn'n curve but now, life is better than the last 10 years of work'n for the big-bucks in corporate america.
"...I heard wall-street fell, but we're so poor I couldn't tell....."  there's wisdom in lyrics like those.  :icon_biggrin:
