MyTubeAudio LLC While You Wait Amp Repair in West Michigan
« on: February 18, 2026, 03:56:51 pm »
I've finally decided to register here. Since 1990, I've been repairing amplifiers for customers in West Michigan. My day job is as an engineer at a major automotive supplier, and since the early 1990s, I've worked professionally with SMD components and high-frequency technology. After building my first tube amplifiers for personal use in the late 1980s, I now run a limited liability company (LLC) that exclusively offers while-you-wait repairs for tube amplifiers. (I avoid drop-off repairs.) This business model arose from my customers' constant frustration with local repair shops—usually music stores—that accept tube amps but then eventually hand them off to a technician (often unknown) and only return them to the owner weeks or months later. There's no transparency whatsoever, and detailed information about what was actually done is rarely provided. A face-to-face appointment is far better. I can coordinate with the owner to provide exactly what they want, and they can watch the repair process unfold. Everything I find can be approved or rejected, so the customer determines the final cost. As a radio amateur with the call sign N8VJ, I hold an FCC Amateur Extra license and i really enjoy building and repairing anything with tubes, from guitar amps to vintage HiFi to RF equipment, up to about 2 kW. My specialty has always been electronic test and measurement, and I have a very well-equipped workbench with an extensive stock of spare parts for tube gear. This allows me to complete most jobs in one evening. (Of course, I still have my day job!) I'm allowed by my family to work Monday and Tuesday evenings, and I've built up a large base of great regular customers in the region. Since 2009, I've completed nearly 700 documented tube amplifier repairs. As an avid musician, I greatly appreciate the sound of tube amplifiers. You can find out more about my amplifiers, my music, and other hobbies at mytubeaudio.com. I've been an LLC for amp repair continuously since about 1990, apart from roughly eight years when I worked as an expat in Germany for an OEM automotive supplier. Even back then, I did repairs for local musicians, although it risked my visa status. ;) Since the end of 2006, I've been back in the US and running MyTubeAudio LLC every week. Get in touch if you're in the West Michigan area! I can be reached by phone or email, and you will find that info on my website or on the attached photo.
