Anyone tried a tube compressor (guitar effect, on studio)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm trying (with no luck) to find a schematic for a tube compressor. EH makes one called the Black Finger but it's too new for the schematics to be around. I don't know of any other. This seems like it would be a nice project with the possibility for good tone.
Has anyone fooled around with this idea or does anyone know where to find something that would help?
Thanks!

You mean a compressor like the Teletronics LA-2A? May still be on-line somewhere. Was on a link at the Sowter page but the link no longer works.

LA-2A is great, but not trivial to build (I've built two). Try this instead:
music-club.rutgers.edu/he...Comp5.html
One tube, a couple of cheap line transformers, and a few op-amps. You could breadboard the thing in a project box.
