Fuse type
« on: August 19, 2009, 09:54:45 am »
Hi all,

I have a question which does not really apply to guitar amps, but I am hoping someone is willing to try and help me identify a fuse. I have a floor lamp that has a dimmer switch on it. A fuse within the dimmer circuit blew the other day. The fuse is a through-hole fuse (i.e. not the easily replaceable ones) with markings 125V 5A 32S. I have found similar fuses on eBay in terms of size and the voltage and ampere ratings, but I don't really know if such a circuit requires a fast acting or slow-blow fuse. I found something on the web suggesting dimmer circuits typically use fast acting fuses. However, the "32S" marking has me confused a bit - I don't kow if it is a part# and the "S" denotes slow-blow....

Any thoughts on what type of fuse this application would require?

Use any 5 amp 125/250V fuse that will physically fit. I'd be really tempted to use a jumper wire.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Thanks Sluckey - maybe I'll go with a slow blow then; a jumper wire would be easier though :-)
