Wurlitzer 4070 Rotating Speaker and Harness
« on: March 12, 2010, 08:02:58 pm »
I pulled this from a Wurlitzer 4070 Model organ today. This might make for an interesting cabinet project and something new for me to do / Pink Floyd? Any ideas on what to do cab wise or anything else that comes to mind?  Could i use a variable 115-120 Volt wall light dimmer to control the speed of the motor rotation? I have not checked the motor voltage spec's yet so at this time i am just speculating on this

Wiped the motor off and theres the spec's /

I got one just like it a while back... haven't had time to play with it ...yet. I'm thinking about slapping a couple ends to cover the bare metal, and wrap a grille cloth of sorts around it, Haven't given much thought to the speed control. Yours may be a later model than mine. Instead of the hall-effect looking device on your pulley, mine has a locomotive linkage that pulls a slug in and out of a coil (variable inductor) that probably fiddles with the bass tones a bit. looks like a miniature centrifuge. Probably had 5-10 watts feeding it?
This problem calls for a bigger hammer!
