Ronnie Wood's Faces "tone"...
« on: August 07, 2010, 12:32:26 am »
I always wondered how old Ronnie got that great tone on all those Faces tunes we all know and love.  Well, I pulled up a few u-tubes of some old Faces live shows.  I was fully expecting to see a stack(s) of Marshalls or Ampegs (ala Stones) and you will never guess what I saw.  A lonely little Champ with a mic parked in front of it!  And yup, there was "that" tone!  I saw them way back years ago, but could not see what he was playing through.  I guess I need to build a Champ now...a Fender...somebody slap me....

See there Jim?  You DON'T have to build a Fender.....call it a Gibson:grin:

Yeah, I think you are right, it looks like just a plain old silverface - probably dimed.
