6G6A build frustrations

I`ve recently finished a Blonde Bassman ripoff and as with others I`ve found searching the forum, it couldn`t take more than 5 on the volume on the bass channels before cutting out completely and gradually coming back again. The Normal channels sounded great . After putting in 1,5K grid stoppers on the output tubes (which made no difference), I put a 1meg across the plates of V2 (which helped to some degree). Finally , I put a 100K (first a 220K with the same result) gridstopper on pin 7 of V2. That cured the blocking/cutoff, but the sound of the bass channel is not as "fat" as it was , with less bass/mids and more highs on full tilt (clean sounds good) and the normal channels sounds very dull now playing it claen , but very nice when it`s pushed.

I don`s see why putting a grid stopper on V2 would affect the Normal channel, but then again Ì`m no expert ....

Any input on this case would be greatly appreciated!

  With others? I have had a couple of 6G6 bassman heads and there is no issues pushing them past 5 on the bass channel.
Since this is a clone,rechecking your work is pretty standard.Adding band-aids is not really a good approach.
