And to be clear on his diagram, the diagram shows a red mark on the foil side of the cap he's referring to.  I don't recall if some of those were to ground, but the coupling ones are all done right.  I didn't do the foil orientation on my first build but I have on every one since and think it can't hurt to take the extra 5 minutes or so to check orientation on all caps to be sure you're doing everything possible to reduce noise :)   I've just never done a comparison from one build to the next or one channel to the next.  I think to honestly do a real side by side comparison, though, you'd need to actually wire two channels that are pretty much identical (or two separate amps that are identical) and have one with all of the grids the wrong way to see how much noise seems added.

Very interesting topic.

I made a schema mainly for my own use and share it here.
If there are some mismatches please correct.

Thanks tubenit. Following along with the recent multimeter example: in the first picture the outer foil would be on the "negative" terminal? BTW - I can't make out the model of the Fluke meter, maybe a 17B?

I still like to use my little makeshift tester hooked up to a fuzz or distortion pedal. Results are immediate and audible.
