Sovtek Mig 100 input jack repair. 6 lug switched MONO???
« on: August 24, 2011, 04:31:24 pm »
Hi, all.  I am repairing a Sovtek Mig 100H for a friend.  The fragile plastic input jacks were damaged and one is completely sheared off.  I want to replace them.  The schematic shows a pair of switched mono jacks.  HIGH actually feeds through the empty, shorted, LOW jack after an extra gain stage.  My problem is that these jacks, along with EVERY other jack in the amp (line out, speaker outs) have 6 solder lugs on them.  The only 6 lug replacements I can find are stereo, and I don't think that's going to be right.  Each jack has 2 to 5 lugs connected, but never 6.  Did Sovtek just use some odd surplus parts that I will never find again??  Could these be stereo jacks wired for mono?  Please see photo.  Any advice or ideas would be appreciated!

Just follow the schematic. Use a 4 Solder lug Marshall jack. Doug has them right here.

A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Thanks!  I appreciate the help.  I figured that would be the answer, but I thought maybe there was something I was missing. Crazy Russians!

You may want to look at the metal nut cliff jacks Doug sells.

They've always seem sturdier to me than the all plastic ones.

Same price, still chassis isolated.
