Forte 3D Cabinets
« on: January 24, 2012, 07:12:33 pm »
Hey, so I noticed a couple of weeks ago that I liked the sound of my Gibson Scout cabinet when the chassis was out.  With the chassis back there was a little bit of a 3D quality that is missing.  I had read the London Power pitch on detuned speaker cabinets and figure my observation must be related.  Not having the tools or patience for serious woodworking, I was doing a little Googling to see if anyone is offering any detuned cabs comercially.  Or even just a somewhat oversized closed back 2x12 that I can leave out a speaker.  But my Googling did turn up this company, Forte, with a variation on the basic idea:

Has anyone here ever seen/heard one of these in person?  Thoughts?

Interesting concept!

Have you seen the "X Fire" design by Bill Fitzmaurice?

No I hadn't seen those.  My interest lately is in detuned designs, though.

I have heard the Forte at last year's Portland Oregon Dumble amp fest, with I believe a Celestion G12-65 and an EV.  It was bleep'n awesome.  The owner has posted about it several times on the Ampgarage Dumble forum, including a photo with the  back off.  Just search Ampgarage for "Forte" and you will find it.
