Ashville Experience---still processing

Yep! Spent all day yesterday in Ashville. Couldn't help but wonder where Doug's shop was at as I passed the Pisgah Forest signs. We spent the afternoon walking downtown area. I was amazed at the number of street musicians and bands on every street corner. My redneck brain is still processing all I encountered there! One thing it did do is reemphasize the power of acoustic instruments and good vocals un-amplified  . Found a great antique shop with lots of stuff---no vintage tube amps! Did find a 1945 TV set--I didn't buy it but never seen one that old. I did enjoy myself very much with my wife, two daughters and four of my grandchildren. The culture there is something else
Anyway, it was a good experience and I will never forget it. Platefire

Asheville is a really cool place

Where else can you see a guy sitting on the sidewalk playing a Sitar barefoot in february?

My favorite Indian restaurant is on State street

I am about 30 minutes away from Asheville
Pisgah forest covers 510,119 acres, so you can pass alot of signs pointing to Pisgah

Didn't see any sitar player but seen a guitar player/singer play a mean Kazoo. Also seen a girl playing a saw. I seen another singer/song--writter playing a acoustic Gibson backed up by a upright bass player. His voice was outstanding that went by the name of ELK. We got one of his home made CD's. Some Fun!

Asheville has a big drum circle community
I was walking downtown one time after eating in a restaurant and came upon the drum circle in full swing
There's a big outdoor bowl type arena type thing downtown

Had to be 50+ people in the drum circle

Was kinda cool
