HR Deville on the bench
« on: September 22, 2012, 08:42:47 am »
Hi guys!

I friend brought a HR Deville complaning about too much noise when engaging OD channel. I opened the amp and there is goo coming out from C35 and C36 e-caps. This is not the first one to arrive on my bench with the same simptons...

But I have always changed PS caps by the specified capacitance value, following schem values.

I know some of you made considerably mods to these amps and I would like to know if you guys tried changing these values on HR deville/deluxes and what were your conclusions...

Thanks in advance!]

Best Regards

R.

I had a used HD deluxe and I could not get rid of it fast enuff . I thought of turning it into a singel 12" 5F4 but did not real like the sound of the cabinet . I change the input jacks that break , the two 470 ohm 5 watt resistors that heat up the board and screw everything up .I also replace the volume pot . I clip the high pass filter on the reverb . the best sound I got from it was using a 5751 in V1 12At7 for V 2 and 3 it was not bad sounding amp for med/small gigs . But if the Power Caps are burst and leaking it could mean there they got a bad bach of caps or maybe it could be a number of other  things that made them fail . What are the voltage readings in the amp ?

I got real lucky at guitar center . They took my HDD and a MIM 72 thin line as straight trade. For a 1967 Princeton Reverb that they thought was a reissue princeton listed for $500.  I got one up on them .
