I had fun building a ..sparkfun capacitor meter kit .

hi

i tried this kit out .

ilike it lots .

because the numbers are big .

i bought an ic socket ,cut it up and used it so i could raise the readout higher from the board .
and not over heat anything .

it cost is $14 and then shipping .

had fun building it and ill put it in a case  soon .

it reads in u,,,,n.....p;

i wiped the board with kleenex thats most of the dots on the board pic

have fun all

 well yes
if you want a ic socket for the display but the ic socket  cost lots $2  extra.
oh the ic socket is a 12 pin
.i bought a 14 pin socket and cu it into 2parts ,,,,,,7 each and cut that to ,,,, 6 pins parts

i use a computer power supply .11.8 volts dc constant .
the positive is int he center of the power jack , the sheith has the negative .\\\\\\\\\\!!!

that is different from the pedal powerpack i have for pedals????!!!!!!!!!!!

not sure .

but it does have a 28 pin for the big ic brains .its a different socket not pins
solder the 28 pin socket supplied  and plug the brains in  .there is a halfmoon at one end of the ic that indicates which end is which ,,,,,match them up ..in it goes  

the led screen socket is not sure of the real part just that it works .but one doesnot need it
only if your trying to raise the readout screen higher ..or want aplug in..the read out leads are 2 different rowsof 6 .that part fits .

Tom, thanks for sharing this info. I just ordered one. Sounds like a fun project and its always good to have a quality cap meter on hand.

punky .sounds great .

my only mistake i made  was mounting the transitorite too high from the pc board.its ok but i would like it mounted closer to the board..
 i was just trying to be carefull .too carefull.

being cheap ..i will mount it in a tin box . it had a gift card in it for a record store.a christmas present.
