SST-90 LED Flashlight

Just bought a MagicShine diving flashlight with the SST-90 chip.  This is the same chip used in the well regarded Olight flashlights - which are in the $400-$500 range.  I've seen a few SST-90 flashlights but they were one or two battery models and claiming big lumen numbers - no way.  Then this one showed up (MagicShine) with eight, 18650 batteries capable of providing almost 9amps of power.  They are claiming 2200 lumens which is on par with the best Olights, plus it is waterproof to 100 meters.  It was delivered today.  Out of the box it had about a 25% charge.  HOLY CRAP!!!!  This thing is a monster!!!  It will outshine headlights, the spotlights on my house, and I was lighting up trees about 1/2 mile away.  I cant imagine what it will do with a full charge!  I firmly believe the 2200 lumen rating.  The SST-90 chip is about 3/8" square.  The fit and finish on this thing is impeccable.  Really impressive.  MagicShine also markets a bunch of bike lights, some with this chip.  I'm sure they are blazers too.  I got mine from an Amazon supplier for $200 but here is the DealExtreme link that has a lot of detail.  Doug, you may want to get a few of these chips!  WOW!

The light looks good!

Good thing it's under water to keep it cool
That's the problem with high output LEDS in bike lights and flashlights
The case needs lots of heat sink fins and air or water running over the surface to keep them cool

The Magic shine bike lights are ok
For the price, they are good.
The bike lights I have built are lighter and brighter than the single LED Chinese lights

I have gone about face on the power levels for my torches
I have several LED flashlights and my fav's are the smaller bodied ones with 3 light levels
The really big bodied ones I own are too powerful for most common uses
Plus they burn through the battery in less than 45 minutes on high

Most the time when I grab one of my torches it's to look behind something, under something and so I click one of the low power settings for that
Using the high power settings for looking at the back of a computer under a desk will blow out your retinas 
Outside is about the only time I use full power on any of my torches
