Cant find a schematic for this one. I thought i have seen one a while back. Has half the volume of what you may expect. No osscillation. All tubes test strong. All sockets have been cleaned. No hum.

I just posted this schematic, someone had recently submitted it:

http://www.magnatoneamps.com/schematics/magnatone_M4.jpg

get the oscillator oscillating and see how it does.

The M4's short coming is the speaker.  It is fairly light duty.  The 80L5N-1   8" Oxford used in the M10 and M15 was much more up to the task.  It used a 14ounce Alnico borrowed from Oxford's 15".  Those were made specifically for Estey.  The M4 and M2 used a light duty 8" Alnico.  If the owner is looking for a better sound quality at higher volume,  that's the place to start.

That's fast. I was just looking for it there last night.

Hey, is that your website? Lot of interesting info about Maggies.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Yes!  I'm glad you dig it!

The most rewarding aspect of it has been all the stories from "back in the day" that folks send in after they stumble across the site.   If it weren't for such great reader contribution, the site would be little more than a collection of schematics, pictures, and dug up press-releases.  Tony Price, chief engineer in the mid-sixties, has contributed an amazing amount of historical detail that really put all the pieces together through all the bankruptcies and changes in the sixties.

As for the M4,  plexi50, when you have it opened up, if you could confirm if the reverb tank has a ink stamp "25-0002", that would help with the reverb circuit research I'm currently working on for the site.
