P90 CBG
« on: August 22, 2014, 04:51:07 pm »
Now that I done with both amp projects and need to build the heads I decided to switch it up. I grabbed my scraps and a nice cedar box and started building. I threw in a GFS P90 bridge/ B500k pot w a DPDT switch(.047&.022) it'll get no frets and just be for jamming. If I get a good height on strings you don't need frets for single notes and slide. I'll coat neck with some special sauce as well.

Nice. I like Cohiba boxes.
I made two Cohiba CBGs myself. one 3 string one 4. Just finnished fretting the 3 string. Not that bad a job. I got a pre slotted banjo fret board from stew mac. Just cut frets to size with a dremmel and hammered em in.

I'm new to the CBG building, Why did you decide to go with the extra bracing on the sides of the box?

I went with the extra bracing because it wasn't a neck thru guitar where the tail comes out the back. Even when I build neck thru back CBG'S I add bracing for stability. I highly recommend checking out cigarbox nation website. There is so much information and incredible builders there. I have built a good dozen or more with 5 needing completion. Some fretted some not. I cut my frets with the hand flush nippers and made my own fret filer that stewmac sells for 35$. It cost me 5$ for fine file and I used hardwood with a 35< Angle ripped thru it. If your interested I'll post a picture. I love these CBG'S, I've built awesome sounding ones and a few duds. I'll post a most recent one of this CBG with more work I did
