This was (and still is) one of my all time favorite all star line-ups.  The one-off album they put out was incredible.  Other than a few shows out in Cali, I don't think they ever toured and due to record and existing group contracts they never did anything else.  What a shame.

H - Sammy Hagar, Montrose, solo, Van Hagar, Chickenfoot
S - Neal Schon, Santana, Journey
A - Kenny Aaronson, Dust (AWESOME 70's band!!!), Stories, etc., etc., bass player extraordinaire....
S - Michael Schrieve, Santana (Woodstock just turned 20), Go, Automatic Man, Rodger Hodgson, Todd Rungren, Buckethead, etc., etc., drummer extraordinaire...

In this live video Neal is using his guitar synth that just fills up the hall with a glorious wall of sound, combining lightning fast runs with his trademark tasty melodic fills.  He is sounding like he did in the early prog years of Journey (the GOOD years...) with tunes like Kohotek and Look into the future.  In interviews they all look back on this group as special.  I would have to agree.

Schon's an animal.
I saw him close up in '84 and it was the year I got my first electric guitar. Just so happened I wound up with a black LesPaul copy 

There comes a point where you're not playing guitar as much as you are playing 'the delay'....and that can be lots of fun in itself....and he's definitely there.

I feel sorry for the next generation that will never feel the power of wind coming off of a 4x12 or the feel of 'current flowing in the strings',,,or the glory of swimming in a tunnel of liquid delay.............
Ah well,,,it was fun while it lasted...

YES!  I've told you that several times....


Schon is unreal.  I really like the early Journey where he really stretches out.  I think this band allowed him to do that again outside the "boundaries" of Journey and what they had become by 1983.  Have you heard the Schon & Hammer album?  Wow, he can play anything...
