I have to say this is a very nice build.  One of these days I think I will use some of the fancy wood.   I have some purple heart waiting to build a head cab for my newest creation, but I think the stuff may rot before I am finally happy with the circuit.

I play the crap out of my AC15.

I see you want Celestion Blue as Steve and I did.  Grab your Strat and play some Ventures.  You will not believe how spot on it gets the Hank Marvin sound.

Great job!

Very cool! I'm about to do a Vox AC30/4 with the EF86 preamp almost identical to this and Steve's build (Steve helped me by tweaking his layout to add 4 extra resistors for the 4 power tubes)  I still have to figure out how to add 2 more power tubes to the chassis ;P

Thanks Ed. Yeah, I had to spring for the Blue. Once you dump all the time and money into a project like this, trying to save $100 on something else was irrelevant. I've never owend a Blue so this was the time.

I built my Champ with purple heart wood. Well, I built the speaker cab and then got lazy and didn't build an amp head for it. I still have a nice stick of purple heart in my garage. Like you I stare at it wondering when I'll actually cut it up and properly house the Champ. That wood is as hard as any wood I've dealt with. Harder than the Zebra.

What a beautiful build – thanks so much for sharing it with us! I've learned so much from the people on this board, I can't even begin to thank everybody.

I've had my AC15 build based on sluckey's layout completed for several months, but for some reason I have a shorts that I just can't track down. I've built tons of amps ranging from fenders to AC 30s to trainwrecks to Dumble builds, most from scratch off of schematics. I just can't track down the short that made my 100r artificial CT resistors go "poof".  It's making me crazy. So it's great to see another one of these completed!

Start a new thread on this. I think we can sort it out.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

yep, sorry, I didn't mean to mess up this thread - I'll start one either way even if I can't track it down .  This build is great tho!  Thanks for sharing -

You didn't mess up the thread. There are not too many gremlins that will poof the CT resistors. B+ is the main one. But we may need pics and some info about your CT wiring, so I thought that would be a thread that you would want to stand on it's own. You'll probably attract more people if you use a separate thread. I already have a few easy to try suggestions but could easily develop into a relatively long thread.

Excellent job, Man ! Congrats.

I have stopped being surprised at the guitar player who spends $3,000 on the latest boutique amplifier, and plugs in his Mexican Stratocaster strung with light gauge strings through a Big Muff Pi fuzz pedal.
