output Jacks
« on: July 16, 2015, 11:06:16 am »
Hello I'm back, I've gotten two amps working now they sound great! I just have a question about wiring two output jacks for the speaker cab. I can get one to work just fine, but when I try to connect the other jack it seems to short it out. I would like both to be 16 ohm, is there something I'm missing that should have bit me?

Wire the two jacks  and label them EXACTLY as shown in this layout...

     http://el34world.com/charts/Schematics/files/fender/Fender_Princeton-AA964-layout.pdf

Notice that the SPKR jack has three lugs and the switch lug is connected to the ground (sleeve) lug. This means that if nothing is plugged into the SPKR jack that you will not be able to use the EXT. SPKR jack because the SPKR jack will have the output shorted to ground. So, you must always plug something into the SPKR jack and if you want to connect another speaker you will plug it into the EXT. SPKR jack.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!
