First time I've heard of it by that name. I read through the threads on it, and it sounds like it is good for clean sounds or smaller amps, but not for bigger amp FMV sounds. An amp for bass might also be a good appication of it. Thanks for the info on it.

From what I gathered at Duncanamps site, it looks like the Baxendall tone stack has both boost and cut and a wider range in either direction than the standard FMV tone stack.
I could see it being useful in a two channel amp with the other channel being the FMV setup we're all used to and expect.

Just for clarity:
"Boost and cut" from the nominal loss value when the controls are set "flat".
It's still a passive tone control--no real boost.

A stupid question: What does the FMV stand for ?

Fender/Marshall/Vox
They are much the same basic setup, just different values.

The Ampeg Gemini 12 G12 uses it and it sounds pretty darn good. Lots of tone adjustment range compared to FMV stack. Also Carvin is using a modified version of Baxandall with a MID control.
Give it a try...

The tone stack calculator on the Duncan pages demonstrates curves for this ("James") tone stack. This of course theory but you can see how the treble control affect the higher frequencies only and bass correspondingly the lower frequencies.
