speaker
« on: September 06, 2016, 09:04:20 pm »
A friend gave me a old Klipsh sub-woofer.  The controls had the knobs broke off etc, but I saved the speaker, which is not very big.  It's about a 6 1/2 inch I believe.

Is it worth keeping around, or should I toss it ??
I would think the thing is only good for very low frequency sound.....
I'll never figure this out......

I have a small subwoofer also.  There were some nice caps and inductors inside.  The specs call for a minimum 25 watt load upto 125w.  I believe the woofer only works at the higher loads because of inductor design.

Test the speaker by by-passing all upstream electronics.  It might do well on an SE amp similar to an early champ or something similar

OK !   I actually measured it today, and the cone is 8 inches.   I didn't save the solid state stuff in it's amp.  I guess I could plug it into the aux speaker jack on one of my amps & see t it actually works !
I'll never figure this out......
