Fusing Hookup
« on: January 27, 2017, 07:24:43 am »
Does this fusing hookup pose any issue (assuming you still make a point to run the black wire off the incoming 120 supply to the front spade for safety, etc).

Most layouts seem to show/tell you to connect/splice the 2 white wires together,    then run the jumper wire from the fuse to the switch, etc.

Thanks...

The hotline (Black) should go from Fuse > SW.  Alternatively, both the BL & WH lines could go to a double pole SW.  Though the circuit shown would function, I think modern safety rules want the hot line switched.

I don't care where you fuse or switch the "hot" line. I don't even know which one is really hot. You have to wire like it does not matter.

I *would* fix the "red yellow" line. It really has to go to the First Filter Cap. While tying it at a transformer bolt is often done, here it looks just as easy to take it to the 1st Cap. This keeps the really-ugly 1st-cap current spikes OUT of the chassis metal. Then the next turret over connects to chassis.

Thanks, both good stuff,...yeah I see a lot of builds, along with my own, will splice the two whites together, if I do it probably better to not do it with a wire-nut...many people do I suppose.

Thanks

See the following on power switches:  http://www.valvewizard.co.uk/standby.html  There are issues of legal liability lurking here.  It behooves the amp builder to employ proper wiring standards.
