adding a meat control to an ax84 November amp
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Doug's Meat Control added to the Presence seems easy enough to do. I'm thinking about adding it to an ax84 November amp. Can someone tell me how to add this in? I saw Doug's layout, but I would like to see how to do it on a schematic. Here's the November schematic. If anyone is interested. ax84.com/media/ax84_m42.pdf

Thank you.

The meat control is inserted between the negative feedback signal and the presence control. That is the junction of R37 (56K) and C16 (0.1uf) on that schematic. Should be interesting. Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for the help. I was looking at this picture where Doug has the meat control in a layout. (I'm better at reading schematics than layouts.)
www.hoffmanamps.com/images/H50pre.gif

It looks to me like Doug has connection from pin 1 of the presence to a 22mf cap and the other end of the cap goes to the wiper of the meat pot. Pin 3 of the meat pot connects to the feedback through a 47k resistor.

Does the 47k resister shown in Doug's layout replace the R37 (56k) in the November layout or do I run them together (in series)?

When you say the meat control is inserted between R37 and C16, I want to confirm that R37 is disconnected from C16 and the conection between them is through the meat control.

Thanks for the clarrification.

Robert

Yes, the meat control is inserted between R37 and the junction with C16. The 47K resistor in the H50 would be R37 in your amp. In your amp the value is 56K. Don't change the value of R37. Just disconnect R37 and insert the cap and pot as you described.

I prefer schematics myself. I'm sure at some point I drew out a schematic of the H50 from the layout. It's easier for me to follow the design that way.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply. I've been stuck with a lot of work. I'm hoping to get the meat control added within the next week. I'll make sure to post a response. It does seem like a fun project.
