Here is a few pics for you Fender nuts like me.

This is a little project I am doing for a customer in FL who requested turrets and teflon wire.  I am kinda liking it

Yum yum! My favorite. Teflon and turrets should be on all menus.

Hard to get more than one (maybe two) NOS CC resistor leads through the top hole though.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

I gathered up some Keystone turrets and the holes are bigger in those guys.  Watts turrets are basically the same too I found.  Just having fun.

All done and headed for FL in the morning.

If you guys are looking at this and thinking you want to build one, give some turrets a try.  Fun project and Mr Doug can hook you up too!

Very nice you blue cap hoarder. Now I know why they are gettbg so expensive. You have created a shortage.

Not saying my work is as nice, but this looks a lot like my builds.  PTFE, blue molded, and epoxy beige except sometimes I have to use red.

My hoard is about gone Ed...   :sad2:

I just got me some of that Blue G10 from Watts and it's sitting waiting for you know who to do something with it.  I am still brain storming my 1 channel AB763, no Trem and added goodies.  Might do a pair of KT120 just cause I can LOL...  Headed to Dallas March 9-12 for a big Steel Guitar Convention.  When I get back I need to start penciling that thing out I guess.

Kt120 for a steel build. I have done that. The plates on these things will take a lot, but be careful of the screens. Not sure of your intended voltages, but i ran 569 plates with 40%Ul taps no problem. When i tried them with a 3.9k screen dropper the tubes started humming immediately. Backed down but too late.

Successfully i did 504 plates with 492 screens and they have been fine. I found out I prefer them running UL, but a friend has 4 running in a Traynor and they are in the same voltage range. Just thought i would pass this along as it feels bad to melt screens on new toobs.

I have used them a lot now and the bass extension is true. Compared to original gec kt88 i favor the 120 simply because the top end has a rounder tone.

I will say you can feel these things in your chest and if it is for a steel amp they have a nice lower mid sustain when paired with jbl, altec type speakers.

Great info Ed.  I will probably shoot you a call when I get closer.  Melting some 120s would suck pretty bad

You seem to have a lot of calls for clean sounding powerful amps. One of these days you should really break out of that AB763 groove and try a Sunn build. I believe your steel players will all want one.

AB763 is the gravy :)

Now a Sunn build sounds like a pile of fun

I restored a bass version. I had never cranked a Sunn before. They are loud loud, but have a lot of character. They are also forgiving amps. Not a bad thing to try. Being around Nashville I would think you can hear one somewhere.

Thank you kindly and I wish I could go. I would be in heaven as I do love me some steel even with Barba playing. Dad and Pete Drake were buddies. I will retire one day ns we will hit the road, but you gottta tote my twin.😁
I see it is a weekend event, but simply not a good time. I just returned from some time off. Now it is back to the grind.
The line up of players is great. Looks like a nice workshop. I would come home with another instrument😀

Take your pick. Any of the 60s-70s tube type that are voiced for guitar. They're all the same circuit, some with reverb/tremolo, or just bigger output tubes, or different speaker cabs. Sunn had some high end, well designed speaker cabs that really had a powerful, clean tone.
