The hum is definitely in the power section it's real low frequency and , it's there without the power tubes and all controls at zero.

I've an old PA amp that has a humming PT, is your PT humming ?

I don't think so I'm gonna check it out later. It was quiet when I had it by itself. This hum is instant when the switch is turned on. I know I've got the HT and Heater wires crossing ..... I'm tired   Just finished the cabinet for the VoF , before the rain came. Gonna change the cathode resistor on the VoF before getting back into this one , get it in it's cabinet. I'll post  a photo in that thread. It's all scrap solid wood , sans the MDF base but , that's wrapped.   Fixing supper now  :icon_biggrin:

A little update on this one.

Lead dress helped with the 60cycle hum somewhat. The hum does not increase with gain/volume so , I'm not going to worry about it too much. This amp is so loud you'd never notice. lol I really couldn't see using it beyond midway on the volume control but it don't stop there  :icon_biggrin:
Marked up the schematic per this build with voltages and such. Please refer to original schematic if your building this. If I've got it wrong ..... ? Nothing screams out as being odd .... too loud for me.

Voltages:
Primary 116vac (bucking transformer)
B+
A 397vdc
B 367vdc
C 302vdc
D 300vdc
6.3v supply:
A- 6.44vac , B- 6.56vac

V1- Pin 1-6 155vdc cathode 1.7v w/bypass 108vdc cathode 1.0v
V2- pin1 294v pin6 186v
V3- pin1 192v pin6 187v

V4- pin3 391v current 22.678mA pin4 336v (OT blue to red 105.4ohms 6.13v drop)
V5- pin3 392v current 22.344mA pin4 335.5v (OT brown to red 99.2ohms 5.66v drop)

> Double pole light switch and the Ryobi table saw

Too late; but I really like this for table saws:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005W17HYY

I think the BIG stop paddle could be a hand-saver.

This version has magnetic latch. If the power fails, it goes to off. That way when power is restored, the saw will not run unexpectedly. That's a fairly common thing on large power equipment.

I use a non-latching switch on my furnace. If flames are shooting out of the cellar, I want it to be easy to kill. But if power goes out, then back on, I'm OK with the furnace re-starting. This might also be attractive on a punk amplifier.

Never to late to replace plugging and unplugging

It took a long time to become the ditch digger my mom always said I'd be.
I once worked in a furniture factory , cutting parts for frames , nothing like a big bandsaw blade popping to get your attention.  The supervisor would say "can you do that faster?" Those end bore saws would work pretty fast. It's amazing I still have fingers.  :l2: When someone managed to cut off a finger the whole plant would roar with laughter  Always wanted to run a Mangler.

I still need a switch so thanks for the link.

Fixing to harvest some shielded wire from a Voice of Music carcass for the reverb controls. It's neat that it would work this way unshielded , but quieter is better.
While I'm in there .......
Thought to move the Cathode resistor away from the rectifier might alleviate some of the inductance between the power supply and the power tubes?

I'm not going to complain about how loud it is anymore ....... shielded wire on the return side Worked Some old school shielding a spring in a sleeve , moved the cathode resistor/bypass cap to in between the power tubes Worked. Moved 6.3v (B) to where cathode resistor was. That cathode resistor next to the rectifier was not good.  I'm gonna stop there , I like reverb , don't need a switch  :icon_biggrin: Mission Accomplished .... just need a bigger house  ......... now for recording a few samples  :l2:

No I couldn't leave it alone  lol had to change those last .1uf coupling caps to .015uf more sparkle less bass  :icon_biggrin:  those .1's were kind of dark even with my Peavey Raptor Strat.

I observed another thing , the proximity of the guitar pickup to the amp causes a lot of low hum. I'm learning ...... Thank you to the person that did the schematic , and all who helped out.

Posted this Terrible demo of the amp on FaceBoot , thought to share it here . The first guitar was wide open single humbucker bridge no tone control. https://www.dropbox.com/s/2vl45u3mloxjpme/ProAmp%205e3Reverb.mp3?dl=0... .... oh heck it's narrated. We did a recording with a Strat and a Dean with Charvel pickups. https://www.dropbox.com/s/rp3z2dmv03xdvar/ProAmp%205e3Reverb2.mp3?dl=0  ... No pedals , the only editing was to raise the volume on the narration and conversion of 24bit48kHz to mp3 Recorded with a handheld (padded/flat one foot from the cabinet) CELESTION RockDriver Vintage, 12", 8 ohms Speaker  It will play cleaner but .... who cares

Dropbox just shows an error for me???
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!
