Kay 803 Grounding
« on: September 28, 2017, 07:33:18 pm »
Want to add a 3-prong plug to a Kay 803 for safety reasons. Amp works fine with no issues. Ran into this discussion about the safety issues in a Kay 703 which is has a different circuit than the 803. http://el34world.com/Forum/index.php?topic=19072.msg195918#msg195918
Here is what I am planning on doing. Would this work?

Looks safe to me.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Thanks Sluckey will proceed as planned. Wasn't sure after reading the discussion on the Kay 703.

Should the switch be connected to the hot lead instead of the neutral lead? Also would a 1 amp slo-blo fuse be sufficient?

Is no one concerned that this amp has line ac series heaters?

I am, somewhat.

What is your concern? Safety? Yes, we are relying on heater insulation. I'm not keen on that, but it is unlikely to break down. Or tube life? Bah, who cares? These tubes ran OK in my kitchen radio.
