Hello, my name is Grégoire and I'm 45 years old, from little Italy, in Montreal QC. Studied in music, worked as a musician/guitarist, had been in bands, RB, jazz, experimental, but that was in the 1000's. Right now, I'm the image printing business since the 2000's. I still play once in a while, mostly solo. When I was a kid, there was no tube amp around the house. My father was a claim adjuster and afraid of them. So I started by rigging the phono input of a Grundig receiver and I got sand state distortion out of that for a while. Much, much later, I got two Mesa Boogie .50 caliber and a Ibanez AS-200 and I was playing in stereo with a boss pitch shifter module and a tube screamer à la John Scofield. Eventually, I sold all my gear because I was broke. Later, I got a new guitar and my first boutique amp that I could afford: A Kendrick Roughneck that came along with a nice poetic pamphlet that got me interested in the innards. When I unscrewed the back panel, it looked so simple that I almost felt like I have been «had». That's how I got started to be interested in tube amps. I mostly build stuff. I mean I can repair stuff and diagnose by distance, but my experience in putting my nose in old tube amps is somewhat limited. I do like the smell though.
