Question about Hammond a0-44
« on: August 03, 2018, 09:58:17 am »
Will the PT power el84? Looks like the same opt as the reverb chassis ao39 or what ever
But pt is kind small not that I haven't seen that size used for a,pair of el84,  thought I'd build
A amp that could run 6aq5 or el84, just wanna make sure that small is pt is up.to the task it's
Only making about 260 on el84 plates with ez81, diodes should bring it up to 300,  if anyone can confirm this for me it would be a huge help I don't have the original tube to play with   Mark Enger

Ya need to find specs, a good start is what did the OE (original engineer  :icon_biggrin:) design for
I have an Edcor XPWR050-120, smallest PT I've ever seen in a tube setup, it powered a quad of 84's just fine
Went Class C for efficiency

I am thinking the Hammond A0-44 used ECL86 tubes?   And that it had about 300v on the plates?

Look up the data sheet for ECL86 tubes and compare to the tube data sheet for EL84's and 6AQ5's.

With respect, Tubenit
