Transformer Question
« on: August 05, 2018, 08:19:05 pm »
I have an output transformer that was given to me. It is a Weber 40 watt with 4K impedance. I was thinking of using it in a new 2 6V6 build. If I use it in this build, what impedances would the taps in effect be with the 6V6s? The transformer has 2, 4 and 8 ohm taps.

Call the secondary taps 4, 8, and 16.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Thanks Sluckey! That’s what I thought was the case but wanted to make sure I didn’t have it backwards!

tube chart I checked;
285plate 8k eff plate2plate
although 250plate = 10k
when you land your Plate volts and tube current, then you might decide to play around n see what's best for you
Went Class C for efficiency

Plate voltage will be higher as I will be using a deluxe reverb power transformer. I just wanted a safe baseline so I wouldn’t kill the OT or the tubes.
