hello all!!
hope this is the right thread for my question!!
im new to this forum and i hope i can find the answers im seeking!!
ive got a carvin mts 3200 head which i purchased new back in or around 1997-98.
been a great amp for me..i have read where some folks dont like em, well too bad, its been my tone since i purchased it.
anywhooo..
im having issues with two of the jacks...one of the speaker outputs, and the footswitch input(which is a stereo jack).
after investigating and eliminating several possibilities im fairly certain the issue is worn contacts inside the actual jacks..
my problem is this....carvin, as many of you know has gone the way of the dinosaur, and what remains is of little value...i contacted them, no parts available.
the jacks look to be standard fender style, sealed jacks, the black box kind, but the parts list from carvin has them as having fewer contact points than the fender ones...carvin says 3, fenders are 4 for mono, carvin says 7 fender says 9 for stereo...
so my questions are these:
1) are these jack the same, and only wired for the lower number of contacts?
2) can i open the housing of these up to bend the contacts back into place without destroying the jack itself?
3) does anyone have any other resource for these jacks, or know or have any parts from this amp laying about that theyd be willing to sell?
sorry for the long story, just want to save my amp..
i've got a local guru who has worked on it in the past, but i was hoping to deal with this job on my own.
im handy with a soldering iron and this isnt a super big job....but i digress
i thank you all in advance for taking the time to read this and look forward to any and all help you may have!!!
