Custom Cab what to put in it.
« on: October 30, 2018, 02:37:28 pm »
Hi,  have just purchased a custom blackface style Amp Cab. It looks to be really well made with surf green and white tolex, finger jointed pine. The speaker is 12". The chassis opening is 400mm (15.75") x 7"  with the standard Princeton Reverb height.

Just looking for ideas of what to put in it.   I currently have a Fender Deluxe Single channel and a 6G2 Brownface Princeton both in Princeton Chasssis. These are 18.25 " wide.

I am wondering about cutting a chassis down and putting the 6G2 ..or squeezing a BF Princeton Reverb in...or a Fender Champ with added reverb and 6L6...any ideas welcome.

Eventually went for a 6G2 build. Sounds good and tremolo is excellent. Quietest amp I have built pretty much silent no hum or buzz.

Looks great!  I was pretty confused for a second but realized you were quoting yourself from a past thread... and then your new post instead of being outside the quote was inside it as well.  I get now that you're referring to the answer to your own question was to put in a 6G2.  Looks outstanding, how does it sound?  Any audio clips and gut shots?

Sorry for the confusion Phil . I think its an ideal home and practice amp although we occasionally play as a 5 piece with 1 acoustic, 1 electric, bass, keyboard and Conga's for percussion and its great for that. I thought it would miss not having a reverb but sounds good to my ears without.

I will get some audio..although my guitaring isn't great.
