Yes. I noted that later, thought I'd posted, but I didn't.

Yes, he wants you to experience the "blow-up", so you learn not to panic, but to work through how SPICE sees the world. I think in an early draft he just told you to limit the "A" to 0.99-0.01.

I see the fix on p32 has gmin in a different place than in the code-snip I posted here. This could keep a math-wizz busy figuring what difference it makes. In practical spice, if your small numbers are anywhere near gmin you are way down in numeric noise already.

Partial success with the the next step - modeling the Orange amp James TS.  Had trouble with the Yahoo Group pot, so I used Kuehnel's pot which had to be built from scratch.  Got a proper plot with the Bass Pot at fixed setting.  Re-setting the Bass pot to Variable is giving me a faulty Plot. :dontknow:

Today's spam (I asked for it) from Analog Devices includes a link to:
Get Up and Running with LTspice
https://www.analog.com/en/analog-dialogue/articles/get-up-and-running-with-ltspice.html
https://www.analog.com/media/en/analog-dialogue/volume-53/number-4/get-up-and-running-with-ltspice.pdf
It is scatter-shot of tips, not a real tutorial, but worth a read.

Thanks! I previously blundered into some other of Alonso's web postings while googling for help. His stuff is very helpful.  I'm almost done with Kuehnel's Ch 1, except for the transformer simulations; and I read through the entire book on an airplane flight during the Thanksgiving break.  Sometimes when I learn something new in LTspice, I forget something basic; but it's coming together.

The side goal of getting better with all things digital is also improving, despite my intrinsic analog orientation!

[Sorry for the old thread revival; I didn't want to start a new one.]

Well, I finally got around to working in Kuehnel's book. I successfully modeled a 12AX7 following his steps in ch. 2. The model's values are converted to variables so it can easily be modified into a 12AT7, etc.
