Parts list and Out of stock items

Some customers do not pay attention to the red text when they add items from a parts list to their shopping cart
When they receive their order they are confused as to why a part listed on the BOM is not in their order

After you add items from a parts list, you need to pay attention to any items listed in RED TEXT.

If you see an item that says Item has been Discontinued, you can go here and read more about discontinued items

If you see items that say THIS ITEM IS OUT OF STOCK, you can order another item to replace the out of stock item

Look at my screen shot below to see what both or these messages in red look like

In the example below the .1/Xicon cap is out of stock
To substitute some other .1 cap, just click on the .1/Xicon link and it will take you to my Capacitors catalog page
There you can pick another .1 cap and add it to your shopping cart.

Every item in your shopping cart has a link that goes to the catalog page where that item is listed
I have the link for the .1/Xicon cap circled in red in the screen shot below.

Some people have emailed me and asked why I don't remove out of stock and discontinued items from the parts list
Parts list are just like ingredients in a recipe list

Just because the grocery store you go to does not have one of the ingredients, it does not mean you should erase it from your recipe list
You still need that item for your recipe

Parts list are exactly like that
They contain a list of items you need for that build

That pretty much explains how Hoffman Parts list work.

In the image for cartoutofstock.png in previous post, there is an column which has a three digit code like EA5

Where is the legend for these codes and human readable information relating to the part specifications and or board placement

It's my Bin number
Nothing that interest anyone but me when I receive an order

Bin number is the far right column
