Doug's custom boards
« on: March 14, 2021, 03:55:06 pm »
Guys, here is one of my versions of a single channel AB763.  Of course, this amp is still being built.  Doug's custom boards are so nice and I wanted to give him a big shout out!  Thank you Mr Doug for all you do for us amp folk.

That’s a beautiful build.

I would like to also say thanks.

I recently used Doug’s services to design a custom board for an amp inspired by the 6G3, but built as a single channel without tremolo. It turned out great.

Nice looking build.  Question, what are the standoffs for on the corners?

Cheers

they are just some long (to long really) standoffs that I used as nuts—easy to finger loosen/tighten.

Have you used the buss bar in the past to run your pot wires? If so, it is brilliant and very neat and I am going to steal your idea.

Thanks
Mike

I started using the buss bar idea a while ago and have decided that is the way I will build all amps these days.  I like the layout of a buss, the grounding is cleaner, I like the signal wires up off the chassis and away from B+, and it's makes pot replacement way easier.  Get some Romex and strip out the copper wire.  Stick one end in your vise and the other in your drill.  Go slow with the drill and watch that wire go perfectly straight!  Have fun!

Cheers!

Thanks so much for the information. Consider your idea pillaged. Everything about your amp is first class. Can't tell you how impressed I am with your work.

Thanks
Mike

Thanks but I cannot take any credit for anything.  Builders have been doing buss bars for a long time :)
