Vintage Twin Reverb rectifier diodes
« on: July 25, 2021, 01:50:58 pm »
There are 6 of the silver ones in the older 70s Twins, 3 per phase.   I see the new 65 reissue uses 4 in a bridge configuration and it says  800v 1A on the schematic.

What would you use to replace these?  I tend to think 4 1N5408 diodes would be acceptable, they're 800v and 3A.  1N4007 are 1KV and 1A.   Guess either would do but I'd like others thoughts and opinions.

1N5408 is rated 1000v/3A. Either type is fine.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Aha  the datasheet I was looking at says 800v and 1KV in another,  I was thinking there were 1KV.

Thanks Sluckey.    Guess I'll opt for the 5408s.
