Help wiring 2x12 cab

Two 8 ohm greenbacks. I have a plate with two cliff jacks. I found this diagram on the interwebs which looks ok EXCEPT in 16 ohm mode the second speaker's negative has no path to the circuit (unless i'm conceptualizing the jacks in the wrong orientation). Can someone check this?

The top speaker is hard wired to the 16Ω jack tip and sleeve. That's a deal breaker.

I bought one these some years ago -- worked great until one of the jacks fell apart, and so I just rebuilt it with the schematic and parts I had laying' around.

I’ve got one of these. It’s my second one technically. The first one failed on me for no reason. I add that only to say, their reliability is a bit suspect. Great concept though.
