5f6 layout help
« on: August 07, 2022, 12:56:43 am »
Are there any available layouts that match the board I just bought from Doug? It doesn't match the layout on his website I found. I am sure I am just missing something, complete novice here. Thanks for the help.

It looks like a standard 5F6 layout - see Doug's Schematics page

https://el34world.com/charts/Schematics/files/Fender/Fender_Schematics.htm

Or google 5F6 Layout

Thanks, it does seem to line up with the layouts you linked me. I was going off of the layout on this link.

You found that 5F6 board on Hoffman Amplifiers Fender Eyelet Board Order Page.
The layouts for all the boards on that page are the vintage Fender layouts. Every board has a link to the original Fender schematic/layout. Just click on the name of the board.

Now for the fun part... The 5F6 and the 5F6A amps use the same board but the layouts are slightly different. The NFB and presence control circuits are the main difference. Most people want the 5F6A circuit. I've been here for 20 years and as best I recall, you are the only person to ever ask about the 5F6. You can build either amp with your board. So, as John Sebastian once said, "Stay with the one and let the other one ride."

I don't know how the 5F6 presence circuit sounds but I just don't like the looks of it on the schematic. I would build the very popular 5F6A circuit with that board.

A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

You bought a Fender Eyelet board, so you use the Fender layouts
The Fender layout links are all on this page

Thanks you guys so much. I knew it was just stuff I was overlooking as a novice. I intended on building the 5f6a and will try to do that.

Good choice. Now just use the original Fender schematic/layout and never look at the Hoffman version again. They are totally different and will only confuse you by referring to both layouts.

That's a Hoffman turret board Layout diagram

The page where you ordered the board always has links to the info you need to assemble your board

Another vote for building the 5F6A. Leo Fender decided to ‘improve’ upon the initial design of the 5F6 for a reason (and Sluckey has already pointed out the reason).
