The ETR page linked to previously shows typical orange drop type caps, and states that they manufacture for CDE.

Honestly.. I don't wanna know if the orange drops do sound better overall. I like the 150's , the Roedersteins,  ... they cost at least half the price.
And like Steve said, the orange are wayyyy too big... for a champ 5F1 build they would be fine, but most of my builds are too populated to use them in. And I also try to avoid things that can wobble in an amp, so that's a reason too.

That was a thought I had too because i am very aware of vibration and how over time it can fracture leads and solder joints. But consider this....the leads on a OD are literally about 3 times as thick an FAR stronger. It's hard to bend them with fingers where the mallory leads you could bend pressing on it with a toothpick.   Plus there are ways to secure them such as a dab of hot glue. As size goes i had no problem at all, but i can see that in very complicated builds. I never thought much about caps being another way to voice an amp (not counting value of course) till i did this but i'm now a believer big time. I've been tweaking this thing endlessly for the last couple months and now i've stopped because i changed it so much to the better with different caps. I was able to finally get it to sound like i was trying too. But hey, there are people who can't hear the difference between 2 strats that are identical but for rosewood vs maple board and i hear that to the point that to me it;s the #1 biggest tone changer on a fender. So if you can't hear that then maybe u won't hear the difference between caps. Then again, like i said....if the change isn't notable how do you account for the fact that since i found a cap scenario that now has my amp feeding back into harmonic feedback without a tone of gain where before it wouldn't do that easily with any amount of drive. Thats an undeniable change that ears or not everyone can hear. But greater tone came with that. So for me a couple square inches of space, another $0.50 each (whats that, about $3-6 per amp?)  is a infinitely small amount to pay to go from a point where i liked the amp to where i'm now thrilled with it and no longer want to change a thing.

I emailed CDE inquiring as to where the Orange Drop capacitors are manufactured. I will update with their response.

Hi John,

While we used to build a good portion of our Orange Drops at our Taiwan facility, we have moved almost 100% of our production to Mexico since 2020.

We do have a select few designs built in China, but these are almost entirely for Asian customers.

I hope this is helpful information. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
Chris

Maybe i'm wrong, but i would think the bigger question isn't where they are made but whether they are the same as what is considered a good orange drop.
