No luck.  Still the same.  He needs the amp for a session tomorrow, but doesn't need the tremolo for it.  So I'm giving it back to him as is, and when he gets desperate, will try again.  Seemed like the roach was going to be a quick easy fix.  Maybe I'll go ahead and order some of the resistors so I'll have them on hand to try when/if he brings it back.  Thanks for everyone's input.

My friend brought the amp back yesterday and I found the problem.  Since I was getting weird voltages that were inconsistent from test to test, I thought maybe there's an issue with the plug socket. The filaments on the tube light up and it passed the stick test, and a replacement tube didn't affect anything. The socket looked ok, old of course, and the wiring looked ok, old of course, so I decided to re-solder all of the pins on the socket in case there was an issue.  Fixed it!  Just luck.  I guess over the years and the moving around of the amp things got loose or cold joints appeared.  Anyway, it is working for now.  Thanks for the help.

Props for sticking with it to the end.  Nothing like that feeling of actually FIXING it!   :icon_biggrin:

Ok, so after my buddy took the DR home and fired it up a few days later, the Tremolo now is THUMPING.  Not ticking.  It was doing this about a year ago, and it stopped after I put in some new filter caps and a new PT.  Anyway, I can't imagine why this has started up again.  He hasn't brought it over yet for me to look at, but I hoped that you all would give me some direction on where to start.  I've read a lot of discussions about the thumping, but have never really gotten an understanding of the cause or a cure.  There must be a cure because it wasn't doing it before.  Thanks for your help.
