effects loop voltage
« on: February 06, 2023, 07:36:00 pm »
I was just wondering why this valve wizard effects loop circuit says to run the effects loop off a seperate 10k drop resistor instead of just hooking R8 and R4 behind the 10k in this photo going to a cathode follower stage. Couldn't I just remove the 10k drop resistor (RP) and run it right off the cathode follower stage B+? I would just need to up the wattage of that 10k I think.

Hi FS,
My guess is Power Supply decoupling. Don't forget you are exiting your amp and re-entering (through "unknown" territory)
I am a fan of PS decoupling at different stages/functions of amplifiers. We often see queries regarding problems which simply are a result of poor PS decoupling. Try it both ways? See what works. The Wizard can be VERY thorough

This is a good point. A few extra wires +/- a resistor and a capacitor is something I can probably manage to try with or without.
