Marshall 2204 board source

I've got a few questions regarding a board for my marshall 2204 build I'm gathering parts for.

I'm using the metro stand up transformer chassis and need to figure out what board I want to use.

At first I was considering the metro/ valvestorm board. But then I found a mojotone board. And I haven't ruled out making my own through Doug.

My issue is I can't find any real deminsions on either board mentioned above, and the resistors I want to use have a overall length, including leads of 2 9/16th of an inch. I don't know if I will have enough length for some of the cross board lengths.

Also, material.  Idk what the metro board is made of, but the mojo board is made of g10. 

Does anybody have any experience with either of these boards? Especially regarding turret spacing?

Does Doug offer any boards that will work for a master volume late seventies 2204 circuit?

Am I better off just designing my own and letting Doug build it for me?

This is not helpful at all but I built a couple JCM800 2204s just using terminal strips. Its a bit more hole drilling intensive but the layout I came up with is pretty quiet and sounds killer.

When I was sealing 250 Volts 100 Amps house-power in a box in my cellar, I wanted very-good stuff; but for electronics I'd use anything except the cheapest paper-base board.

Down in south Louisiana it certainly matters. As far as fender blackface and silverface amps are concerned.  The humidity her is horrific on those boards.  That's the reasoning for the g10.

And my biggest concern for the metro board is the turret spacing.

I'm pretty sure that the metro board is more humidity resistant than the fender stuff, but I also know they cost more for that restoration look, which I don't care about.

The g10 is some solid stuff. And what's wrong whit heavy duty when it's in an amp moving around all the time. 

If I have to build my own I may even go with eyelets.  Not to start that argument again but I feel that eyelets are the most durable of all.

Well, I went ahead and ordered the metro board.  Still not sure if I'll use it.  I really need to step up and learn DIYLC so I can design my own, then get Doug to build them or start building my own.  I really want to build my own, but I don't have the ability to store a table saw or drill press at the moment.

Sorry for the late reply. You can probably do this layout a bit cleaner and I don't know if these pictures were taken before or after I rebuilt the ground scheme to be star layout.

Hey that's a good looking build if you ask me.

If you want to take the time, using some string (sinew I think it's called) in place of the tiw wraps would make it even nicer.  It is more holes than I would like to drill however.  At least for this build. 

I have a lot of extra iron laying around.  I have been wanting to do a true point to point like that one.

for my next build i am going to pocket some cable wrap from work. String is a good idea, so you would drill holes in the chassis to secure the wiring? I can't think of any other way to do it but it does seem like alot of work.

The string is called lacing cord. You don't drill any holes. Just lace the wires together. You may see an occasional cable clamp on big bundles of laced wires, but that's not usually the case in an amp.

Where did you get the lacing cord Sluckey? I've been thinking of trying this in a build of my own one of these days. No idea where to get it though.

That's not my work. Sunn did that back in the '70s using some plastic or nylon string (looks like heavy monofilament fishing line).

I have two spools of waxed lacing cord (white and black) that I've had since the early '70s. I used lacing cord with stuff I built back in the '70s but have not used any since then. The stuff I have is wax coated, flat woven nylon string, about 1/16" wide. Very strong and easy to work with. Came from the military. Mouser has the same stuff...

Several other how-to pages are on the web now.
Daburn is a classic supplier.
It may not matter for us, but I'd lean to Dacron. Linen may be expensive (but sure is vintage). Teflon is for airplanes where you can't run outside to escape the smoke. Waxed of course.

You may want a lacing needle, if they are still made.

Thanks everyone for the info on the lacing tools. I'll probably get some to experiment with on one of my builds one of these days.
