I have a lot of known good 6v6 tubes, so I swapped in two to rule them out. I did find and swap out a noisy pre-amp tube. I am going to try to button up this amp today. I will put in the speaker (10watt you were correct, I wish I had checked. ) after I do and run it low if at all until I get the original one re-done. Then it's on to the GA-50T

Just ran it at wall voltage , very slight hum and have to chase down a crackle in the two connections I reflowed ........Overall *Holy Shit*, 0n 3" it's pretty loud and clean after that it's too loud for bedroom use, still clean and bright (full treble) I can dial that way back to (bassy) Tele has a detent where it's by passing the guitar tonestack. I mostly use it there. This amp breaks up superbly and is a lot louder than I expected I am going to sort it out and put it back in its cabinet. I am going to put a speaker jack on it and run it through an 8 ohm cabinet I have until I decide wht speaker I am going to use. This amp appears to be an effen treasure!

Congratulations! I'm sure you will get the minor bugs worked out. I chuckle on the louder than expected comment, as I always have that same experience. I was just playing my Little Wing Mini Bassman - nothing mini about that amp. I think those early Gibsons have some of the sweetest tones. In addition to my early GA-40 I have a GA-25 from the same era. Like your GA-50 it has two different size speakers. Cabinet is beat to Hell, but damn it sounds good.

No more questions .....Put the ES-335 through it, No hum, no crackle or sizzle ....Just tone ......Tele too. Makes Me wish I still had my late 50's P-90 les paul ....I may have to get a re-issue because, I'm sure this amp and  P-90's would be "The Holy Grail."

Nice :icon_biggrin: I do not have a P90 Les Paul, but I have a weird Squire Tele Custom with P90s and a Guild hollow body Capri with P90s. Both sound great with my old Gibson amps.

I'm going to put the chassis back in and hook it to the p12n and use it at low volume . I'm shipping the P12Q off to millersound for a re-cone. I have been studying            (looking over) the GA-50T schematic and it appears to be a strange bird in some respects, that I can't quite get my neurons onI'll post when I get this one buttoned up and get the chassis out of the GA-50T...........
